Walking - Galloway training - XT - Yoga - Nothing
10/10-Mon: 8 miles today.
8/28-Sun: 10 miles today in 2 1/2 hours.
8/23-Sun: Walked/Ran 8 1/2 miles today in about 113 minutes.
8/14-Sun: Today was my first "Time Trial" test for Jeff. I warmed up with a 1 mile brisk walk, 15 minutes - then ran a mile in 9 min. 49 sec. - then warmed down walking a mile in 20 minutes. It was hard, I was huffing and puffing all the way, but I think I had a pretty good time for a fat guy.
8/13-Sat: Only walked the dog tonight for 1 mile.
8/12-Fri: Only walked the dog for 1 mile tonight.
8/11-Thu: Treadmill, faster pace, 30 minutes @ 1.6 miles.
8/10-Wed: Just walked the dog for a mile.
8/9-Tues: Treadmill today, 30 minutes around a mile and a half. I think the treadmill gage is wrong, It felt like two at the park.
8/8- Mon: I could not get into any exercise today. It was raining, so I did not walk the dog.
8/7-Sun: Walked / ran 7 miles today, my farthest ever! Started at 10:45 am, finished 2 hours later. It got quite hot, but I managed. Wore my old shoes, felt ok except for the crunching of toes. My knees and lower right leg felt great, no problems! Later walked the dog for a mile.
8/6-Sat: Didn't do much of anything except walk the dog for a mile.
8/5-Fri: Walked / ran 2 miles at park, 31 minutes. Hot, leg sore again too.
8/4-Thu: Rested my leg today again.
8/3-Wed: Today did the Lifecycle for 24 minutes, level 3. Walked dog for 1 mile.
8/2-Tue: I did not do anything today, rested my leg and feet which was a bit sore.
8/1-Mon: Made up for missing yesterday by getting my 6 miles in. Walked 1 min, ran 10 sec. as advised by Jeff. My right lower leg cramped up for the first mile, then was fine. Feet a bit sore with the new shoes, but I went 6 miles! The last time I did that was in a 10k, 20 years ago. Then 48 min, today, 90.
7/31-Sun: I was supposed to go on the long run today, but I got up too late, then it was too hot, then we had made plans for the evening with the neighbors.
7/30-Sat: I did not do much, rest day today. I did walk the dog at night, the usual 1 mile.
7/29-Fri: Life-cycle for 30 minutes at level 3, then some push-ups, sit-ups.
7/28-Thu: Treadmill work today. 30 min, 1.6 miles. Some cramping.
7/27-Wed: Life-cycle for 30 min. Lev 3, some push-ups and sit-ups.
7/26-Tue: Treadmill today, 20 minutes, 1 mile.
7/25-Mon: Did nothing today, rested.
7/24-Sun: Ran/walked 5 miles, 75 minutes. Great workout!
7/23-Sat: Rest day, just walked the dog.
7/22-Fri: Life-cycle, 24 minutes, Lev.2, some light weight work.
7/21-Thu: Treadmill, 30 minutes, 1.5 miles.
7/20-Wed: Had a great evening workout, 24 minutes on the Life-Cycle, up to Lev. 2. I also increased the weight on my upper body workout but decreased the reps to 12.
7/19-Tue: Today worked out on the treadmill in the am, 1.6 miles, 30 min. A lot of tightening in lower calf muscles. Walked the dog in the pm, 1 mile, 20 min.
7/18-Mon: I took it easy today, just walked the dog in the evening for an hour.
7/17-Sun: Long run day. Went 4 miles! 61 minutes 30 sec. I felt OK, didn't really feel like I was pushing it. As per Jeff Galloway's instruction, walked 1 min, ran for 10 sec. Some tightness, but no major cramping, drinking a Propel before seemed to help.
7/16-Sat: No exercise, but after the rain and it cooled off I did walk the dog for about 2 miles at a pretty good pace, about 45 min. total.
7/15-Fri: I was in a blah mood today, could not get into any activity, but I did walk the dog for 1 mile, 20 min.
7/14-Thu: Walked on the treadmill for about 20 min, 1 mile. I was going to go longer but my leg cramped up quite a bit.
7/13-Wed: 24 minutes on the Life-Cycle, hill program, lev.1, spinning to Green Day! Then 20 reps back, chest, arms and abs. Good work out.
7/12-Tue: Treadmill in the am. My leg started to cramp up again, so I slowed down. Felt good to jog on the treadmill, which has shocks and a little give. 1.4 miles, 30 min. Walked the dog in the pm, 1 mile as usual.
7/11-Mon: Did yoga in the am! Felt good even if it was only for ten minutes. Walked the dog in the pm, 1 mile.
7/10-Sun: Long run day. Walk / ran for 3 miles. After 2 miles started to cramp up a bit on my lower leg area, around ankles and calf, but not bad enough to stop. It was cool (80). 3 miles in 46 min. 15 sec.
7/9-Sat: I didn't do anything, I didn't even walk the dog! Poor dog .
7/8-Fri: I forgot that today was suppose to be a XT (cross train) day, and did the treadmill again for 1 mile, 20 min. Some cramping on my lower right leg, but not as bad as yesterday. Early evening did 18 min. hill program, level 1 on bike, then 1 set of 18 on upper body workout. total time about 22 min. Walked dog for 1/2 mile.
7/7-Thu: Today walked on the treadmill. I started to get cramps in my lower leg, which may be from all the walking lately or could be from dehydration (I drink a lot of coffee). I lowered the incline on the treadmill, reduced the speed and dropped my distance to just a mile, about 22 min. Later that night walked the dog. It was so pleasantly cool after the rain that I walked him for 2 miles!
7/6-Wed: Life Cycle, 12 min. hill routine, then did some upper body weight work. 1 set of 12 on chest, back, triceps, biceps and abs. Walked the dog in the evening for 1 mile in about 20 min.
7/5-Tue: Walked the treadmill as usual for 30 min, a distance of 1 1/2 miles. Later that evening, yeah you guessed it, walked the dog for a mile.
7/4-Mon: One of my "cross training days", on the Life Cycle (stationary bike) for a 12 minute "hill" routine, then did some upper body work with weights, one set each, 12 reps of flys, lat pull-downs, tricep extensions, curls and situps. Walked the dog the usual mile.
7/3-Sun: Today I went to the park with my son, for the first of my long runs as per Jeff Galloway's schedule, walk/ran for 2 miles at a pace of about 15 min. per mile. It was warm but cloudy, about 85 degrees at about 6pm. Later that night I walked the dog, 1 mile around the neighborhood loop, took about 20 min.
7/2-Sat: Didn't do a damn thing, no exercise on Saturday, but I did walk the dog as usual (he won't let me off the hook now) around the block for 1 mile in under 20 min.
7/1-Fri: Today I walked the treadmill at a slight incline for 30 min for a distance of 1 1/3 miles. Later that night I walked the dog, 1 mile around the neighborhood loop, took about 20 min.
