Each pose in yoga, or movement, is called an asana. Today I am going to cover a very basic pose but very crucial one - Tadasana (tah-DAHS-anna) tada means mountain so hence the title; Mountain Pose.
The Mountain Pose is a good place to start because it is often the beginning movement in other standing poses. It is also very easy to do, basically you are just standing, paying very strict attention to your posture.
Posture is important in yoga practice. Yoga is not an exercise where more is better, but one where getting it right slowly is more advantageous. Yoga can improve your posture tremendously, and in doing so also improves your outlook on life.

- Stand with feet together, arms at your side, palms inward slightly pressing against your outer thighs.
- Maintain your balance and slightly flex the muscles in you stomach, knees and thighs. Lift up your head and spine looking straight out, imagine a line down your back.
- Inhale deeply though the nose and exhale slowly. Maintain position for 1-3 minutes.
See, painless and sweat free! Give it a try today and you'll be on your way!

Ha! I don't know what position you were doing, but I am jealous you could be that flexible, I mostly do the easy stuff!

I ahem could never have the above problem, so I do want to try yoga. I could use some posture and attitude improvement.

I am a great follower of pilates, however I did try yoga once....and almost killed myself. I was in a pose and i slightly shifted which caused my ta-ta's to cover my mouth - so there I am, trying to hold my pose and not break the classes zen as I slowly suffocate on my boobs - all I kept thinking is that my mother would pee her pants if this was the way I was going to kick the bucket....luckily we changed positions and I am alive to tell you this story.
