I tossed out much of our fatty foods, or at least the ones that Mrs. FB loves, you know, to remove temptation. For my part, as you know, I have thrown myself in front of the bus for her and have been eating the rest, the cheeses, the chocolates, the chips, the ice-creams. Most of it is gone, either down my gullet or the disposal. The turtles re-main hidden until I can summon the courage.
Instead, at the grocery store, I bought whole , un-processed foods. Organic foods. Low fat foods. I had a huge basket of yogurts, skim milk, various fruits and veggies, low fat, high fiber snacks. It felt good to be loading that stuff on the conveyor instead of the usual. Of course I felt like an idiot, the fat dude with all the non-fat stuff. The hopeless and incurable believer. Like King Kong buying a cart load of Slim Fast. For good measure at the check-out I picked up a great little booklet, you know, the kind they have near the crossword puzzles and Archie comics; "Weight Loss for Dummies", by Carol Ann Rinzler. It really is a great little reference thing that you will be hearing more about in the future from me I am sure.
Although I have not fully embraced this new life style completely, and the new changes that are ahead, I know they are coming, and I am really, really looking forward to making the change. I am going to feel a whole lot better in many many ways. I just need to finish the turtles first.
I feel the same way when I am at the grocery store or in a drive through. Almost like a hypocrite.
I'm glad you are getting things back on track. We are all here to support you in any endeavor with weight loss. As long as it is healthy! :-D

I've been so good throughout this entire season with all the sweets. Day after day, delectable goodies on the receptionist's counter at work. Gifts of chocolate and cookies. Everywhere I look, stand, lean against -- there are wonderful sweets! But I have totally 99.9% refrained. But get me around dips and cheeses and crackers and chips and I'm toast.
It just seems to me that for every "no" you say, you should lose at least a pound.

This may be an example of good coming out of a bad situation. Give the turtles to a friend...fast!!! (If chocolate is in the house, it will stay on my mind until it is GONE, as in eaten.)

Jaye - Great that you guys are getting back on the bike, I am right behind you! Of course you can submit names, good idea!
Margaret - My sister was a vegan for a few years, she ate too many chips and got fat anyway. It is a good lifestyle, but I bet your daughter probably watches her portions regardless too.

If I were there, I would be glad to help with those turtles. Anything with chocolate, caramel and pecans is my favorite. (pecans, right?) Ashley's vegetarian/vegan diet is great for weight loss because you can't eat a damn thing worthwhile. She is even more of a toothpick than she was before. Good luck with the new foods! (tofu anyone?)

Happy New Year and my support and sympathy to Mrs. FB because I have done the gallbladder thing and it so sucks. My last attack, the one that brought the surgeon, was due to a fabulous plate of Pappas' barbeque. I thought I was going to die.
My husband has had a come to Jesus about his weight. He got very sick, went to the doctor, blood pressure sky high as was his blood sugar. Things have gotten serious at our ranch. I hope they stay that way.
Keep the faith. Do we get to submit names for your little one?
