How did I NOT know that March 1st was "Pig Day"? I don't think I could have planned a better comeback to this blog than that...right? Thanks to Denise we all know know about this historic day of celebration! I am looking forward to next years Pig Day!
Speaking of planning...I mentioned that I had a plan, (weight loss plan) or that I was working on one. Well, I did in fact work on this plan over the last three weeks. It is a good one. Nearly fail- safe. Takes into account many of my personal idiosyncrasies (that is definitely a spell check word, either spell check is not working I got got it right)! Anyway, I will share more on that plan soon.
I am now up to walking the dog for a good 30 minutes every night. I usually watch the first half of "Countdown", then take out the mutt.
I have also been doing my best to put a cap on my eating. The hardest time for me remains to be after 8 pm. Not so much because I am hungry, but because my day has deflated, and relaxing usually means eating something "fun" while watching "Family Guy". Stewie rocks! To see what I mean clink the link! Gooo ahhhn click it, you know you want to! Luckily I have noticed this indiscretion on my part and tried to incorporate it into my plan. Gigidy!
I have, I think successfully, been able to achieve several good nutritional changes;
I have cut my coffee consumption in half and substituted it with green and black teas. I try to use leaf tea when I can.
I have cut my ice-cream consumption to zero and now eat a bowl of Grape Nuts or Natures Path with organic milk or soy milk and berries.
I have switched regular pasta for the whole wheat / higher protein kind, or a combination of the two. This is good because I can cut out the need to add chicken or pork if I want to. I also have made my own pesto and sauces for them.
I stopped drinking regular soda a long time ago, but I am now losing my thirst for the diet stuff as well. Drinks with Splenda taste better but they give me a headache, so I have cut down on them considerably, maybe one a day. If I need a carbonated drink I am going to substitute some mineral water or something for awhile.
I still need to get more sleep, but I have increased from 6 to 7 hours a day. I am still working on 8. I still need to drink just plain water, which I rarely do at all.
I switched from eating regular eggs to Egg Beaters. I can't tell the difference as far as scrambled or an omelet goes. Cuts calories in half and all the cholesterol. I cut up a sun dried tomato, sprinkle some fresh spinach on top, add a slice of fat free cheese, and I have a nice omelet for around 150 calories! Damn good too!
I have increasingly been eating more vegetarian products, like breakfast patties or "burgers". It took awhile but I finally found a few good ones that don't try to mimic what a cow tastes like!
I have substituted white bread for a lower calorie, no sugar, high fiber wheat bread.
The bottom line with all of these changes is that I actually enjoy them now. Honestly, I did not at first, but little by little they began to grow on me. I NEED the coffee in the morning, but I actually look FORWARD to the tea in the evening. These changes are small for sure, but they are positive I think, and maybe in the long run of living a healthy lifestyle, they might add up to something significant.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!
Gigidy gigidy - allllriiiight ;). I love every character on that show but HATE Peter for some reason. He annoys the fuck out of me. Otherwise, good show, heh.
I think that your planning is going to come together nicely because you are taking the time to think it over - that is what I did when I decided to stop the WW after two years and work with the Jorge Cruise plan because it fits my body and my needs, damnit!
It's funny how all the little changes seem so big at first and then suddenly they are a part of every day life. I drink one diet soda a day as a "treat" and love all things high fiber and low sugar. I gag at the thought of fast food hamburgers too...wtf?

Each change brings you further on the road to better health, so good for you! I'm really getting into green tea myself right now and am especially loving a green apricot that I got from Adagio - it's my new iced tea addiction.

This is indeed inspiring. I have been slipping up on the eating and the work out. Back on track now!
Thanks for your friendship

This is so inspiring! You sound really positive. I think that vacation was good for you. Myself, I am trying to cut sugar, cold turkey. Today is the second day....

good for you. My drink of choice is water so I'm ok with that; I've added a couple pieces of fruit that were initially replacing my afternoon candy bar but now are simply an addition; and I'm back to baking all my own bread.
Gotta work on that late night eating, though...

The omelette sounds delicious, and the changes sound like positive life long ones. It's not a diet,it's a change in your eating habits. YAY!

I'm impressed, Chuck -- these all seem very reasonable and doable. I've recently discovered Lipton bottled ice tea (unsweetened) and I just LOVE it. Zero calories, zero everything (maybe some caffeine?), and yet very satisfying and quenching.
I'm having some right now....along with a glass of wine...(hey, it's Friday).
