I think things are going pretty good right now, better than it has been anyway. I pretty much stay on target most of the week with exercise and my eating plan. Weekends continue to be a battle, with me not putting up much of a fight I am afraid, but over all my "outs" outweigh my "ins" and I am still losing and not binging. I think I lost another 4 pounds which puts my total close to -15 pounds right now. Even if it is slow, it is going down. Official weigh in will be Aug. 1st to get back on track with the monthly updates. I can see that I am slowly getting better at sticking with the program, getting better at returning to it when I fall off. If I was 50-50 before, now I am more like 60-40. By August I will be on target 70% of the time and rolling into the fall with the big mo.
And I am getting stronger and faster too. I have really tried to get to the gym 4 days a week. On Monday I jog on the treadmill and have pushed myself a little faster each time, I am actually running for a bit now on it. I repeat this on Thursday. Tuesday and Friday I lift weights. I have increased the weight or the reps and now do about 12-15 machines in about 40 minutes. I think I am going to go for less speed and more weight soon though. On Wednesday I take the day off. I don't do much on Sat. and Sunday either, though I think I compensate for the overeating by doing more around the house and yard? I really like my gym routine I must say, it leaves me feeling really good, energized, and I look forward to going back rather than dreading it.
I have been better at keeping up my FitDay journal, so if you want to see what I am eating and doing, you can always check there. You might notice a few items like Fatblogger's Morning Gruel or Purple Power Smoothie, soon I will post on what these are and why I am trying to eat more of them.
I think one of the hardest things I have been trying to do is maintain a low salt diet. Holy cow I had no idea how much salt was in a piece of freaken cheese, its scary. Previously I probably took in about 5000 mg of salt a day easy, now I try to keep it below 2,000 and really should get it to 1500, but damn that is really, really hard. I will post more soon on salt and sodium in our diets.
How about you? What have you been doing and how are you doing on it? I want to know!!!

Your post that is closed is amazingly written and extremely thoughtful about many topics. I feel disrespectful commenting here--but I just had to point out to you that you very appropriately used a mountain metaphor. Ups and downs. Hills and valleys. That's what marriage is all about. Parenthood. Life.

I'm glad it's going well. Alison had wisdom teeth surgery, so I've been making some yummy smoothies too, and oatmeal and scrambled eggs. She is getting better! The summer weather has been lousy either; it's been either broiling hot or raining, with not too many days in between.
